Barefoot in the Park by Neil Simon – a charming romantic comedy featuring newlyweds Paul and Corie Bratter. Happily in (newlywed) love, they decide to play matchmaker for Corie’s mother and their eccentric neighbor.
Auditions: August 13th and 14th
Rehearsals: Monday-Thursday from 6:30-8:00
Mandatory Rehearsals: September 29th-October 9th
Performances: October 10th-19th (Friday and Saturday evenings, Sunday matinee)
Setting: Paul and Corie’s NYC apartment, winter, 1960’s
This delightful production features a cast of characters of various ages and genders:
Paul Bratter (male, 20’s-30’s) – reserved and practical individual. A serious young lawyer.
Corie Bratter (female, 20’s-30’s) – free-spirited, impulsive, and energetic young woman. Madly in love with her husband.
Mrs. Ethel Banks (Corie’s Mother) (female, 50’s or older) – Corie’s mother and a widow. More conservative and traditional than Corie.
Victor Velasco (neighbor; male; 50’s or older) – Eccentric neighbor, who lives in the attic of their apartment building. He is a charming and flamboyant character.
Harry Pepper/Telephone Man (male, any age) – The telephone repairman who ends up becoming entangled in their lives. He is a friendly and down-to-earth character.
Delivery Man (male, any age) – The furniture deliveryman who Corie befriends, just like everyone she meets.
Audition Info – actors will be asked to read short scenes/monologues provided by Village Stage Productions prior to the scheduled audition time. Actors do not need to prepare a monologue.
