Jana Tejeda – Recording Secretary, Village Stage Productions Board of Directors
Jana Tejeda is originally from San Jose, CA where she grew up the only female cousin in a very large Italian family full of males. As such, she spent most of her time outdoors with her cousins. As San Jose began to grow, her grandfather sold his San Jose orchards and bought a ranch in Nevada. Consequently, Jana’s summers were spent helping him on his ranch in Gardnerrville, NV.
Jana’s love for theater came from her Grandmother. Her grandmother was a season ticket holder to the theater in San Francisco since the 1960’s, working her way up to front row center seats, which Jana was able to enjoy with her throughout her childhood and into her adult years. (Being the only girl had it’s perks!) While Jana has never been a performer, she has been an connoisseur since childhood.
Jana attended college at California State University, Fresno where she earned a Liberal Arts Degree. She then attended graduate school at Santa Clara University where she earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential as well as her Master of Arts in Education.
Jana taught elementary school in Moreland School District until the birth of her first daughter in 2005. At that time, Jana and her husband chose to relocate their family to Elk Grove so that Jana could take a few years off to be a full-time mom. Jana was busy during that time, serving as President of her MOMS Club for several years and then moved on to serving on her children’s PTO board.
Jana currently works part-time at the elementary school her children attend and is on the School Site Council for two schools. Jana is thrilled to be a part of this new theater company, working with people she has come to know and respect over the past several years living in Elk Grove.
